THE EVENT

Choices, Choices, Choices.... What a weekend.... Musicfest, Kids Kingdom, a 5K Run and a 2 Mile Walkathon! Take your pick. The Rock n' Run 5K has been added to the already popular Musicfest weekend at Nomahegan Park in Cranford.

Musicfest, with a wide array of great acts, has added a Friday night program to go with its traditional Saturday event. The 2 Mile Walkathon will be back for its second year and Kids Kingdom will offer fantastic fun for the youngsters in your family.

And, new for '08, the Rock n' Run 5K, a race on local roads and through Nomahegan Park....Flat and fast, the 5K course will feature mile clocks and 2 water stops. Runners will be treated to terrific amenities including a custom T-shirt, 5 years age groups, super refreshments and Music, Music, Music!

Nomahegan Park is within minutes of the Garden State Parkway and Route 22 with plenty of free parking at Union County College.

Garden State Parkway Northbound: Exit 138. Left on The Boulevard. ** Go 2 miles. After baseball fields, make left onto Springfield Ave. (Rt. 615) Follow parking signs into Union County College. Park is across the street.

Garden State Parkway Southbound: Exit 138. Left on The Boulevard. Follow from ** above.

Rt. 22 Eastbound: Right onto Springfield Ave (Rt. 509) to Cranford. *** Go 2 miles to Rt. 615 (Springfield Ave. continuance) and make a right. College parking is on left.

Rt. 22 Westbound: Take jughandle turn for Springfield Avenue (Cranford.) Cross Rt. 22 onto Springfield Ave. Follow *** from Rt. 22 Eastbound above.

The Love Hope Strength Foundation--Love Hope Strength is an international charity with chapters in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and South America dedicated to providing all cancer patients with access to information, quality cancer treatment, and the best medication available. Through innovative, music related, outreach and awareness programs such as Union County MusicFest, Everest Rocks and Peru Rocks, LHS provides critical funding for cancer centers worldwide. Co- Founded by two-time cancer survivor Mike Peters of the Welsh rock band, The Alarm, and leukemia survivor and President of CSI Entertainment, James Chippendale, the Foundation supplies much needed testing and treatment equipment to cancer centers around the world. The Valerie Fund--The Valerie Fund is a local not-for-profit organization established in 1976 in memory of Valerie Goldstein by her parents. The Valerie Fund's mission is to provide support for the comprehensive health care of children with cancer and blood disorders. With its origins in New Jersey, today there are seven Valerie Fund Children's Centers for Cancer and Blood Disorders in major hospitals in the tri-state area, providing caring and comprehensive health care to approximately 5,000 children and their families each year.
