15th ANNUAL IRA'S RUN
for TOMORROWS CHILDREN

$3,100 in Prize Money
 

THE EVENT

Ira's Run has been staged on the streets of Englewood since 1995 to support the efforts of the Tomorrows Children's Fund which serves children with cancer and serious blood disorders and their families. This fun event is run on a challenging loop of hills and flat in the upscale neighborhoods of Englewood. And, prize money is offered to the first 6 men and women.

Amenities include the Ira's Run T-shirt, refreshments, random prizes and kids activities. Madison Park in Englewood is easy to get to from all over northern New Jersey, New York City and Westchester via the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway and the Palisades Parkway. So bring the whole family and join us on October 5.

DIRECTIONS:

From NJ Turnpike going north. NJ Turnpike/ I-95.Follow George Washington Bridge signs ( LOCAL LANES )Take Exit 70A ( Leonia ). Slight right onto East Degraw Avenue ( CR-12 ) Left turn onto Grand Avenue. ( NJ-93 ) Right turn onto Madison Avenue.

AGE GROUPS:  10 Years: 14 and under, 15-19, then 10 year increments through 70 and over.

NUMBER OF FINISHERS:  Unrecorded in previous years. This will be the first year that computer scoring will be used.


WHO BENEFITS?

The proceeds from this Run are used for programming at The Tomorrows Children’s Fund located in the DON IMUS/WFAN Pediatric Center at Hackensack University Medical Center, The Tomorrows Children’s Fund exists to ease the pain and speed the healing of children and their families afflicted with cancer and serious blood diseases. The center is filled with love and hope and laughter. The staff of psychologists, social workers, art, music, dance and child life therapists use state of the art techniques combined with caring and compassion to help each child, sibling and parent deal with his or her own personal ordeals. Ira’s Run is held each year to honor the memory of Ira Sohn and to raise funds for Tomorrows Children’s Fund. Ira grew up in Englewood and attended Moriah and Frisch schools. Running was an integral part of his life and is depicted in the logo for this event--one that he designed while in high school. Ira was a loving daddy to Gila, a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. Ira, whose optimism, courage, warmth and wit touched everyone he met, died of cancer in 1993 at the age of 28.
